Interview: Augustana not the everyday rock musicians

After going three hours over on its sound check, rock band Augustana sat upstairs Saturday at Munn Ice Arena. A bag of nearly demolished Tostitos sat next to a plastic foam bowl of salsa and lead singer Dan Layus scooped the foam off his beer, then schlepped it into the salsa.
Needless to say, the five band members looked like rock stars straight out of “Almost Famous.”
But unlike rock stars, Augustana isn’t traveling around in a pimped-out recreational vehicle, and the guys didn’t lift their noses at the presence of a measly student journalist like myself.
