John Mayer, Sarah McLachlan and Damien Rice headline the 19th volume of the “Cities 97 Sampler.”
The perennial favorite, which offers exclusive live performances recorded at the Cities 97 studio or in concert, will go on sale at 8 a.m. Nov. 15 in area Target Stores. It’s priced at $19.97, with a limit of two discs per person. The limited run of 30,000 copies is expected to sell out within hours, if not minutes.
Other artists on the compilation include Shawn Colvin, Ryan Adams, Brandi Carlile, Keane, Counting Crows, Lifehouse, Augustana, Colin Hay, Colbie Caillat, the Plain White T’s, Corinne Bailey Rae, Gomez, G. Love, Mozella, Patty Griffin and local band Romantica.
All proceeds from sales of the “Cities 97 Sampler” will go to a variety of local charities. The 2006 “Sampler” raised more than $600,000, and once this year’s sales are counted, the total raised for the entire series is expected to top $6.4 million.
